Record Mirror Club Chart, February 10th 1990

So, as mentioned before February is a bit different in that I’m skipping forward a year so as to introduce some variety in the selections. However, RadioWorldHistory doesn’t have any of February 1990’s Record Mirror and my collection is missing some issues so the first one is from February 10th. I thought I had a complete collection of RM for this year but I’ve either misplaced a box or misremembered.

Oddly enough I get to link to one of my own uploads, this was the flip to position 100’s Olimax & DJ Schapps – Feelin’ Love. Feelin’ Love was a bootleg remix of Cherrelle & Alexander O’Neal – Saturday Love (and got a commerical release after this). Feelin’ Janis was a bootleg remix of Janis Joplin – Mercedes Benz. Olimax & DJ Shapps went on to create a version of Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, and also remixed The Grid. Maybe we’ll get to those in future.

Delighted to see the full version of Orbital – Deeper on youtube, here in it’s full 15 minute version.

There now follows a few tracks from people who are dead.

Guru Josh died in 2015.

Jonathan Saul Kane died in 2024.

Torsten Fenslau died in 1993.

I don’t think any of Renegade Soundwave are dead.

And I’m pretty sure Adamski is still alive.

As is Lil Louis.

And we’re back to Torsten. This (and the KLF – Chill Out) were my introduction to Ambient House, still a genre I love a great deal. As I write this, on January 31st, I have to note that I was in France* today. I walked home to Switzerland with Apple Music playing music. Just as I cross the border The Orb started playing, and the sun was out and I found myself smiling.

I was really in France. There’s a L’Idl 5 minutes walk from the border, which is a few minutes from my house. I buy a baguette there most days. Anyway, here’s the chart in full.
