Record Mirror Club Chart, January 21st 1989

I am writing this on January 7th to keep ahead and as of today Mark Zuckerberg is enabling the apocalypse so maybe Spotify has been destroyed by a missile as he declares war on Europe and European Internet companies.

Slipmatt & Lime, early bleepy house but would be massive two years later with DJ’s Take Control and the following year with On A Ragga Tip.

wtf at the top left sticker though. I don’t remember that but it seems WestBam’s first album had a Hitler like icon that I assume didn’t get very far out of West Germany.

WestBam - WestBam album cover.

“I ‘ate you, Butler!”

As one might surmise, Raze was really popular so here’s a cover version of sorts. One comment I would like to make is that due to the club charts being compiled from “black music orientated venues” it does attract a weird mix at times. I doubt you would be hearing Baby Ford into Pebbles or, uh, Milli Vanilli. Or this.

Certain versions of this (Hey Music Lover G-OO-D Vibration Mix) can’t be embedded for some reason?

Always felt Smith & Mighty never really got the respect they deserved at the time. If I can be bothered in future I’ll look for my older posts, but that’s ten for today.
